This kitchen was customized and personalized in a fun whimsical way with custom hardware, custom cabintes, and a custom paint job. But when one goes outside of the box with paint color, one takes a risk of having fun, retro whimsy design turn into hues gone wild.
At a first glance it seemed that the red accents, which the client loved, stole the show a bit too much.
I was lucky enough to be asked to give a color diagnosis and my opinion about what I would do. Upon closer look, it wasn't so much the red accents, as much as the yellow walls. Here is how I would turn wild back to whimsy with a cool vibe with Devine Piping or Gosling on the walls and Devine Latte or Crunch on the ceiling.

Gretchen - Thank you so much for showing a great example (for my clients & others) of context and composition, responding to the typical "fear of darkness". This is a wonderful aid showing the importance of a solid canvas, especially when you have some fun elements you want to showcase without distraction, allowing them to sing.
